Citizenship preparations!

I'm very much a 'girly' Brit Gal so when preparing for one of the most significant days of my life, appearance matters and therefore preparations need to be made well in advance.

So with 12 days to go I have started on the essentials!

Now the Judge may not be looking at my toes much, but if I'm going to look elegant and finished, a paint job was needed. I probably should have gone for 'stars & stripes' but didn't want to be predictable, so 'pretty in pink and a flower' was what I went with.

I was going to wear the one dress I own, but I've never been a dress type and once I heard how long I could be at the Courthouse (most of the day), I opted for comfort and practicality. After all I don't want to be tugging at my pantyhose as I take the Oath on film!

So with the Hubsters help (and he really was a big help and showed much patience - unusually in a clothes store!) we picked out this elegant pantsuit number in a slinky fabric. It looks like nothing on the hanger, but being tall I suit these layered floaty but also fitted types of outfits. I went with black, a colour I rarely wear anymore, but it looked chic and once I add a 'pop' of colour with accessories I think it'll tick all the boxes. I need to look smart, elegant, uncreased and be comfortable for a few hours of waiting around.

Next up is my 'do' or more specifically the colour. I have been growing out a reddish dye job, which has faded with all the sun and swimming over the summer. Those are my roots and natural colour, which I last saw in approximately 1980 - seriously! But on Wednesday I will be toned down to match the roots and then have a few blonde highlights scattered around.

I also have a guest list of 'official' observers which is coming together nicely, and we are booked into first class accommodations the night before thanks to my good friend PamOKC.

Oh and I lost 15lbs and hope for a few more by then!

The countdown continues....

Congratulations Sarah! What a joyful occasion to celebrate; I'm happy for you.

On another note: I don't know if you remember me writing you about a year ago when I sought any advice on the immigration process for my Belgian friend. Well, your very helpful information got the ball rolling and as of Friday she received her green card! Thank you again and for the much needed advice about not needing to hire a lawyer. They did the whole process themselves and saved mucho money!

Congrats again to you and take pics!

Musingegret - yes I do remember giving some tips and sending them to Visa Journey for all they needed. I am so glad it was of value and helped them out!

Gigi - I am using Jillian Michaels website and it works!
