Counting down

Well I am entering my last week as a school secretary tomorrow. For the past week I have been training my replacement and doing things around here for the final time. I can already tell I maybe a tad emotional when I finally say goodbye a week on Tuesday!

This week is going to be busy, I have two school Christmas parties and my new employer very kindly invited me to their Christmas lunch as well. Tomorrow a colleague at work is cooking me a mexican lunch as her gift to me and we will all get to enjoy it. So healthy eating maybe a problem this week! I just finished baking Sticky Toffee Pudding for one of the parties, my final gift to my colleagues who loved it after I made it once before.

The kids are starting to realise I am leaving and as they come up and hug me and tell me they will miss me, it's getting harder everytime.

And then the little funnies you get with kids happen and remind me why I have loved this job for four years.

Last week I decided to dress for the season and wore bright red lipstick one day. As I left a classroom I heard a third grader say to his teacher "Miss Sarah has ALOT of lipstick on today!". It was very tempting to go back and kiss him on the cheek, but his teacher and I got a big giggle out of it.

I have a feeling I am going to be needing a hankie!

You've had a great job though, which is more than a lot of people can say!
Good luck in the new post.
Happy Holidays.
(Oh bugger that - Merry Xmas to you and hubster!)

Awwwww, so sweet! I know you will miss it but I also know that you are looking forward with relish to your new adventures. It is frustrating to be under-utilized ... not that you aren't utilized, but you know what I mean. When capabilities are more than what is being asked, that is a little frustrating. I know you are going to do great in the new job. Say hi to hubster from us!

I can already tell they're going to really be missing you when you're at your new job. It's nice to know there are nice people at your new place too.

I remember when you started your job at the school. I'll bet they'll miss you as much as you'll miss them. It's an exciting time. Enjoy, Sarah (and yes, have a hankie ready).

Sneak in the extra pack of tissues in your back pocket. Sounds like you are going out on a high, so that is wonderful. And then the excitement of a new year and new job - it'll all be worth a few tears!

Oh yes you will need a big hankie. I left my school as secretary after 13 years and I haven't stopped crying yet!

Awww, Sarah, that must have been hard to do. Congrats on the new job. I just told Kay, Georgia Girl with and English Heart, about your blog. She married her English penpal awhile back, and they live in GA I think. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.~~Dee

Hello Brit Gal!
Georgia girl with an English heart here! Dee from red dirt ramblings told me about you, but I think I had found you before I had my own blog and was too shy (or awkward) to comment!
Hope you are doing okay since you haven't done a post in a while. Does that mean you are having great fun? Hope so! Hey, I see Kay from Hawaii and I know her too!
My name is Kay also! (Can't type without exclamation points!)
Love & peace & Happy new year!
Kay
