Porch cleaning horror!

OMGG!!
I was just outside cleaning our porch and taking down my summer decorations in order to dress it for Fall, when I found this in my pail of rocks.

Remember I have a severe case of Arachnaphobia and you can probably imagine the piercing scream I let out as it ran towards my hand. I dropped the pail, screamed for the hubster repeatedly and ran for it onto the drive.

Can you believe despite all this racket and me screaming "big, spider, I think it's a Tarantula - hurry", he literally saunters out of the garage, grinning away and telling me to calm down. You won't be surprised to hear I smacked him as he ambled past and gave him a shove to hurry up before it escaped.

I have to say he was a little more cautious as he approached the pail, as I repeatedly said "it really is huge this time" (in the past it has maybe been expanded by my imagination). As I hurriedly headed indoors he called out "it's a Wolf spider and harmless".

Maybe so Mr, but it was bloody huge and about 6 times the size of any spider I've ever seen before! The hubster just came in to see if I was okay and said "yes you can call that a big spider" and now he's laughing at me.

I am recovering before I venture out again.

I don't blame you for your reaction, I would've been the same!

oh what a post to hit via black box... I really don't like spiders either. But I'm pleased to meet you!

Sarah, we have Wolf Spiders here in Charlotte and they scare me too! I don't blame you for screaming! The guy in my office who is originally from London is an aracnophic too! Is everyone from England deathly afraid of spiders? Just curious.

Like your story, I only scream at harmless bugs. Like cockroaches.

BTY, our homecoming was today, parade and football game (local team got clobbered). I didn't stay for the game put am posting pics of the parade (look for the short blond kid playing the clarinet) and a couple videos, if I can get them to work on my blog. Thanks for letting me talk about it here!

I'd be screaming too! I don't mind little spiders, but big ones are a different story.

oh ick! I'm the same EXACT way, I have enough spider/insect horror stories on my blog as well. I never knew NY had so many big scary bugs. This year was so bad I started calling it "Kingdom of the spiders" (like the old movie with who was it William Shatner I think?), thankfully its getting cooler so maybe the will go away again now!

I just had a very similar experience with a cicada the other day! Insects can be horrible!

My body weight would have suddenly been a couple of pounds lighter if I'd seen that at close hand! (Ain't that a polite of putting it?).
