Well we were very impressed with her speech. But the moment I knew she had me came later, when I visited Roland and spotted that not only do we share the same name....but more importantly we share the same taste in GORGEOUS snowboots!
Any woman who has this much class, style and is only a lipstick application away from being a pit-bull (her own words) - might even have got my vote had I been eligible!

Ummmmm...I don't share your view.
I'm absolutely delighted that a woman has the chance to run as VP. (Personally, I think that a McCain/Rice ticket would be hard to beat.) But I don't think that being the novice governor of the US state that borders Russia (see Lord Celery today) gives her credentials to be VP of the entire country at this stage in her career.
If I was a completely neutral voter, I'm afraid I'd have to cast my vote for the Democrats. Who do I want to be a "heartbeat away from the presidency"? Sarah Palin? Joe Biden? That's an easy choice. I'll take Biden every single time.
And I DO get to vote.

Janet - I think you missed that tongue I have firmly stuck in my cheek ;-)
I was going to express my opinion and then I read Janet's comment and I have to say she said it perfectly for me...
But those boots are very chic!
And then I read your comment .. so now I am laughing ...

Oh and I keep wondering why in this daily recital of her foreign policy creds 'they' dont include Canada as well as Russia...
Just wondering ...

Well I've been calling this woman a Spitfire myself. I like her. She epitomizes for me what I think every year out here where I work --- "I could do a better job than some of these bozos" - and she got up, ran for office, and did exactly that.
Now as to her speech, I didn't like that she repeated her previous speech in parts. I agree that she was short of solutions. But dang, she can stick the knife in and give it a turn. Me-ow. But she also had those old boys in the audience nodding in approval, which was pretty amazing to see. She brings McCain up a notch (for me) and Biden brings Obama down a notch (for me). He strikes me as being very smarmy and calculating and I don't think it was a good choice for Obama.
Gonna be interesting for the next few months.
Sarah, I'm going to repost this - apparently it didn't post correctly the first time.
+++++
I certainly DID miss that tongue in the cheek. Guess I'm too far away to see you that clearly.
Janet
I was just thinking how little I knew about you, and was wondering if you were going to annoy me enough with your politics that I'd have to delete your blog from my RSS feed, and then I discovered you had your tongue in your cheek! Whew!
AA - fret not, the only comments I ever make on politics that are serious relate to the US vs UK differences. The rest of the time I am being ironic or commenting with my tongue firmly in cheek ;-)
